The Commission makes recommendations to the Board concerning the provision of an environment in which arts will flourish within the Village. They are also responsible for the following:
Promoting fine arts
Reviewing the appropriate placement of purchased, commissioned, or donated public artwork in areas where residents and visitors live and congregate
Establishing public art donation guidelines and review processes
"Art in the Park" Special Event
The Commission is currently accepting applications for a new special event from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10th in Cook Park. Art in the Park will offer local artists an opportunity to share art with the community. Both visual and performance art will be considered. Possible art offerings could include a drum circle, small performance troupe, henna artist, small band, balloon artist, etc. A stipend of $100/artist or group will be provided. Artists will be responsible for their own setup/takedown. All applications will be reviewed by the Arts Commission for final approval.
Applications are due no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 2nd, 2022
