Bike to School Day

May is National Bike Month. During the April 23rd, 2019 Village Board Meeting Mayor Weppler read a proclamation declaring the month of May as Bicycle Safety Month in the Village of Libertyville. The Libertyville Bicycle Advisory Commission is continually brainstorming ideas to increase safe means of travel via bicycle around the Village. One activity the Commission is supporting is Bike to School Day for Highland and Copeland Schools. Highland is hosting their day on Thursday, May 9th with a rain date of Friday, May 10th. Copeland’s Bike to School Day is planned for May 17th with a rain date of May 24th.  Local Bike shops have also donated prizes for kids who ride. Police support will be present near the schools during these events. Motorists should always keep an eye out for bicyclists and pedestrians while on the road. Please take extra caution during the Bike to School Day events.
